Dear American Visa Officer, not all of us want to japa to your country!

Few days ago, I went for a visa interview in at the US Embassy Lagos and was surprisingly denied. It didn’t make sense to me because this was the same US I travelled to in February 2017. The lady who interviewed me kept hammering on the fact that I spent 12 weeks on my trip, instead of 2 weeks that I had declared on my visa application. Despite my explanations, she went ahead and refused me a visa.

Well that’s fine. It’s their country and they decide who they want to let in. However, someone needs to let these people know that some us are so fulfilled in Nigeria that we cannot trade the life we live here for anything. Here, we don’t have to worry about hurricanes, or CEOs getting shot on the streets in broad daylight. Excuse me!

Excess Bank Charges?

Because if you were smart, nothing should make you think that at almost 50, I will just wake up one day and decide to abandon a highly professional and lucrative financial consulting business in Nigeria for life in your America. You dey whine? My view is that some of your officers responsible for assessing visa applicants require more or better training. Do you read me?
